The upcoming PAF Olomouc 2021 festival, which takes place from 2 to 5 December this year, reveals the curator of the 15th year of the Other Visions CZ 2021 moving image competition. This year, ten finalists will be selected by Japanese media theorist Keiko Sei.
Keiko Sei, a Japanese media theorist who has been working in post-communist Eastern Europe on the relationship between various art media and later the conflict in the former Yugoslavia since the 1980s, will compile a curatorial selection of ten videos for the Other Visions CZ 2021 moving image competition. The selection of videos and the subsequent form of installation of Other Visions will benefit, among other things, from the experience with the Czech environment gained during her management of the video studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology, where she worked in 1998–2001.
The Other Visions CZ competition has long aimed to create awareness of the Czech moving image: the forms bordering on animation, experimental film and video art. The final ten works will be screened as a series in a cinema hall and as a part of a gallery installation at the PAF Olomouc 2021 festival, which will take place during the first weekend in December. The competition winners will be chosen by the international jury (Main Award) and the audience (Audience Award). During the following year, a selection of ten works titled Other Visions CZ 2021 will be presented in the Czech Republic and abroad.
