Blažíček is going to open the exhibition and introduce his new performance for the first time in Olomouc

The audio-visual artist Martin Blažíček is going to open his exhibition in Vitrína Deniska on Monday, 29 February. After the opening he is going to introduce together with Michal Zbořil his new cinematographic performance Binary Logic that was produced by PAF.

The Sunday programme will begin at 9:30am in the Film Auditorium with the screening of animated films by students from the universities UTB, FAMU and UMPRUM Short Animations for Kids 2. Adults as well as children will enjoy these films.

The 14th edition of PAF—Festival of Film Animation is starting today on Thursday December 3rd in Olomouc. Opening night of the festival will see a string of exhibition openings - beginning with The Unbearable Lightness of Nyau Cinema by the Malawi-born artists Samson Kambalu in the U Mloka Gallery. His Nyau films break down the stereotype of temporal and spatial experience with film: they intentionally move away from the western perception of time and deviate from the linearity of contemporary narrative film. This is the first exhibition of Samson Kambalu in the Czech Republic.

Other Visions Jury Comprises of Four Members This Year

We are now announcing the members of the international jury of Other Visions 2015. Other visions is a Czech moving image competition.

New Books in PAF Edition

Two new publications from the PAF Edition has been introduced to the book market – the extensive box of Svatopluk Pitra and the anthology of internet art #mm net art.

Escape Pod at the Sundance Film Festival

American film festival Sundance will introduce the work by Jonathan Monaghan (PAF 2015, Other Visions 2015 jury member). His digital animation Escape Pod (that can be remembered from PAF) will be seen as installation under the umbrella of New Frontier Sundance section.

This year, Edition PAF publications will again be available at the Christmas film sale at Studio Béla in Prague on Friday the 18th of December 2015.

Janek Rous is the winner of Other Visions 2015

The winner of the Other Visions 2015 competition is Janek Rous with his work The Sound from the Desert. He was awarded the main prize by the international jury, consisting of Samson Kambalu, Jonathan Monaghan, Daniela Arriado and Gabriel Florenz. The Special Jury Prize was given to Petra Lelláková and Vladimíra Večeřová for their video Marmotour. The Audience Award was won by Aleš Čermák and Michal Cáb for their video The Earth Trembles.

PAF Saturday Dec 5th

The Saturday programme will start at 9:30 am in the Film Auditorium with the five-episode series Garden that is based on the motives of the children’s book of the same name by the artist and illustrator Jiří Trnka. The magical illustrations from the mysterious world from behind the rusty gate were transformed into the series of short animated films by the director Břetislav Pojar, who is known for his animated series Hey, Mister, let’s play.

Differentiated Other Visions at Konvikt

The vernissage exhibition of the finalists of the Other Vision’s competition “Differentiated Visions” took place in Atrium of Konvikt in Olomouc during the opening evening of PAF. The exhibition will be open for public until Sunday 6th of December.

Jiří Surůvka has a price

The laureate of the ninth Award for artists over 35 - Award from Vladimír Havlík is the Ostrava-based painter, performer, photographer and curator Jiří Surůvka. The list of finalists of the award also included Zbyněk Baladrán, Milena Dopitová, Jaromír Novotný and Dušan Zahoranský.

Music morphing with image - concerts and performances at PAF

This year’s PAF programme will offer a number of unique performances which are somewhere between concerts, spatial installations and live work with the moving image.  Part of the programme are Czech premiere performances by TCF (NO), Blue Daisy (GB), Lotic (US) and Takashi Makino (JP).

Attend the workshop of animation with Edita Plicková

The distinguished inbetweener and children book illustrator Edita Plicková (1940) worked in the Prague Studio of Animated and Puppet Film where she brought to life Zdeněk Miller’s tales about puppies, among others.

At PAF, she will lead a two-day animation workshop dedicated to inbetweening (drawing of individual frames) of characters in classical animated film. The workshop is intended for children older than 9, their older siblings, parents and grandparents.
